Course: Computed Tomography

Module: CT09: CT Patient Care

Module Description: Audience: All medical professionals interested in learning about CT.
Prerequisites: It is suggested that you follow the order of the series.
This audio-visual/webcast presentation provided by Philips Medical Systems Clinical Education Department provides an overview of CT Patient Care and will review patient preparation, indications for CT, vital signs and patient assessment, lab values, venipuncture, and injection techniques. This presentation is given by Joy Fox, BSRT.,(R)(QM).


Learning Objectives
1. Review and discuss patient assessment and communication
2. Identify the importance of a thorough patient history.
3. Describe how to properly educate the patient about the procedure.
4. Describe methods and equipment for patient monitoring.
5. Describe possible emergency situations in radiology/CT.
6. Identify methods to recognize, prevent and treat emergency situations.
7. Review methods of disease transmission.
8. Review methods to prevent disease transmission.
9. Determine the need for informed consent.
10. Care of the patient having an interventional or biopsy procedure.
11. Discuss Cat Scan IV procedures.
