Module:
Patient Education and the Radiologic Technologist
Module Description:
Patient education is more critical today than ever before. It begins with the health care provider supplying information to patients to influence patients’ attitudes and behaviors and thus improve their health. As a practice, patient education requires skills and knowledge of theories and research; as a movement, its acceptance is relatively recent and still evolving. Kelli Haynes, M.S.R.S., R.T.(R), describes the desired outcomes of patient education, the patient-centered approach vs. provider-centered approach and the professional responsibility for patient education in the R.T.’s scope of practice.
