Course: College of Radiographers CPD Endorsed, Computed Tomography

Module: Cardiac CT

Module Description: Audience: All medical professionals interested in learning about CT.
Prerequisites: A basic knowledge of CT.
This tutorial is intended for anyone wanting to learn about Cardiac Computed Tomography (CT). The course covers anatomy, physiology, and pathology of the heart using cardiac CT images. The course also covers patient preparation and procedures for Coronary Calcium Scoring and Coronary CTA studies. A basic knowledge of CT is recommended. You will see high-quality Cardiac MDCT images from a variety of patient case studies for hospitals and CT suites from around the world.


Learning Objectives
* Describe the basic anatomy and physiology of the heart
* Recognize anatomy on Cardiac CT images
* Describe Coronary Calcium Scoring and Coronary CTA and what they are used for
* Explain the patient preparation and procedures for cardiac CT, both for Calcium Scoring and Coronary CTA
* Describe the most common pathological conditions affecting the heart

About the author: Barbara Lebron is recognized as an expert resource for teaching clinical and technical concepts in MRI, CT, General Radiology, Ultrasound, and Vascular imaging. Barbara has worked for Philips Healthcare for 18 years; as a Clinical Sales Support Manager for CT/MRI and currently as an Online Course Developer for the Philips Learning Center. Her responsibilities include developing and updating courses for the Learning Center, working with subject matter experts and authors, and managing the continuing education process for the various accrediting organizations. Barbara is a graduate of Quinnipiac College in Hamden, Connecticut, is accredited by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists with an additional MR registry license, and is a member of the American Society of Radiologic Technologists.
