Case Study: Schwannoma

Case Study Description: Audience: All healthcare professionals interested in learning about schwannoma. Findings are correlated with multiple modalities with a focus on the role of ultrasound.
Prerequisites: None
This learning exercise provides information regarding a schwannoma. By reviewing the medical history and test results of several diagnostic modalities, the characteristics of this pathology are examined.


Learning Objectives
After reviewing this case study, as well as the discussion provided in the library, the learner will be able to:
* List the sonographic appearances of a schwannoma
* Explain how a spinal cord tumor is classified in relationship to the spinal cord meninges
* Associate signs and symptoms associated with a schwannoma
* List the etiologies, and identify which diseases are associated with a schwannoma
* Identify the differences between a schwannoma and other spinal cord tumors
