Case Study Description: Audience: All practitioners of ultrasound or anyone interested in learning about a pancreatic cyst.
Prerequisites: None
The following case study presents information regarding a pancreatic cyst. By reviewing the presented medical history, lab results, and test results of several diagnostic-imaging modalities, the learner will examine the characteristics of this pathology.


Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this case study you will be able to:
*Identify the sonographic and laboratory characteristics of a pancreatic cyst
*Name the different portions of the pancreas
*Recall etiology, biopsy and treatment options for a pancreatic cyst


Author: Dr. Nicole Hodgson
About the author: Dr. Nicole Hodgson is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery at McMaster University. She is a surgical oncologist and is sited at the Juravinski Cancer Centre. Her clinical interest is breast cancer. Her research group focuses on surgical oncology clinical trials, epidemiology, and surgeon-directed quality initiatives.
